Why it is our Best Value
The Life360 Tile Mate luggage tracker, 2024 model, is for the traveler who wants a cheap tracker in every checked bag and does not want the choice to depend on which phone they own. It works with iPhone and Android through the Tile app, which makes it the practical pick for mixed households and for anyone on Android who feels left out of the AirTag conversation.
It takes the Best Value slot because it is affordable, straightforward and platform agnostic, which is the same reasoning Tom's Guide used in its key finder roundup. The Mate is the entry tier of the Tile line, with a built-in keyring hole so it attaches to a bag tag or zipper pull without a separate holder, and a ring function that helps you find a bag in a dim hotel closet.
On the road the Tile Mate luggage tracker is a set-and-forget item. Loop it through the zipper of a checked suitcase, mark the bag in the Tile app, and check the last-seen location when the carousel stops without your luggage. Because the Tile community network relies on other Tile app users passing nearby, it works best in busy airports and cities where there are plenty of them.
That network is also the honest limitation. Tile's crowd of phones is far smaller than Apple's Find My network, so a bag misrouted to a quiet regional airport may not update for a while. Some features, such as smart alerts when you leave a bag behind, sit behind a paid subscription. Travelers who are all-in on iPhone will get better coverage from the AirTag, and anyone who wants longer range should look at the Tile Pro.

Frequently asked questions
Straight answers to what travelers ask most about life360 tile mate 2024.
Does the Tile Mate work with iPhone and Android?
Yes. The Tile app runs on both platforms, which is the main reason to choose it over an AirTag in a household with mixed phones. The experience is the same on either, with location relayed by other Tile users nearby. Check the Amazon listing for current app requirements.
Do I need a subscription to use it for luggage?
No. Basic location, ringing and last-seen tracking work without paying. Extras such as alerts when you leave a bag behind and some warranty perks are part of a paid plan. Check the Amazon listing and the Tile app for what the current free tier includes.
Can I replace the battery in the Tile Mate 2024?
Tile has used both replaceable and sealed batteries across models, and the Mate's design has changed by generation. Check the Amazon listing for the current battery type and rated life so you know whether it is a swap or a replacement when it runs down.
